The Role of Feminist NGOs in Reducing Violence against Women in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate

Abstract
The study aims to determine the reality of violence against Palestinian women in general and to address the role of feminist NGOs in reducing violence against women in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, the study depend on the descriptive analytical approach based on primary and secondary sources to collect information. To address the analytical aspects, the study relied on five interviews in five different feminist NGOs in Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate. In addition to that and in order to support the study, an electronic questionnaire was published on the reality of violence against women and it was answered by 410 of Palestinian citizens. On the other wise, the importance of this study lies in revealing the actions of feminist NGOs in reducing violence against women, identifying its strengths their main strengths, and identifying and its main weaknesses. In this context, the study reached many results, including: First, the effectiveness of the procedures of women's NGOs in reducing violence against women is medium, as it constituted 64%, secondly, the adequacy of the procedures of NGOs in reducing violence against women is medium, as it constituted 64%, thirdly, the Coordination between feminist NGOs and institutions related to women is medium, as the percentage constituted 73.3%. Fourth, the percentage of challenges facing NGOs in reducing violence against women is medium, as it constituted 69.3%, where the most important challenge standing in the face of feminist NGOs is the low culture of society. In another context, the study reached a set of recommendations, the most important one is the necessity to strengthen the role of the government to issue legislation to protect women, enhancing the use of legal aspects, the need to carry out broader awareness campaigns in addition to providing material and moral support to women victims of violence.
