The Effect of Using the Explanation Strategy with "Why" on Mathematical Thinking among Middle School Students in Mathematics

Abstract

The research aim to identify effect of using why by word  explanation strategy an sportsman thinking of second grade intermediate students in mathematics, the following zero hypothesis were formula to achieve the objective :There is no statistically significant differences at the level of 0.05 between the average scores of experimentalism group taught in why by word explanation strategy and the average scores of the control group taught according to the normal method  in the sportsman thinking test. In order to verify the validity of the two hypothesis, conducted an experiment lasted for a whole semester. The experiment confined to the students of the second grade of intermediate level. He depended on the partial design experimentalism group and control group with posttest. The school chosen for the experiment is Al- Nahda intermediate school for boys the sample included 71 students who were subdivided into two subgroups contains 37 experimentalism group and 34 control group. Requirements were determine the study content and analyzing them and formulate the behavioral objectives for both groups and building a test composed of 46 items 42 items as objective items and 4 as subjective items. Built in the light of the sportsman thinking which included chairwoman skills sportsman proof , induction and extrapolation. After the termination of teaching the items according to the plan prepared for the two groups the post test was applied and the post test of acquisition test on the sample of the two experimentalism and control groups. The data were analyzed using (spss) of socialites .The results after analysis using (t-test) for two independent showed the excel of experimentalism group over the control group in the variable of the sportsman thinking. Recommended the necessity of using why by word explanation strategy in reaching mathematics and also suggested making a similar study on different levels of education.
