The Effectiveness of the Nescar and Brown Method in the Development of Structural Thinking among the Fifth Grade Students in History
Abstract
The current research aims to identify: the efficacy of the Nescar and Brown method in synthesis thinking among fifth-grade literary students in history.
To verify the research goal, the researchers developed the following two hypotheses:
First / Zero hypothesis: There is no statistically significant difference at the level (05.0) between the average scores of students of the experimental group who are studying the course of European and American history according to the method of Banskar and Brown and between the average scores of students of the control group who study the same subject in the usual way, in a test Dimensional synthesis. Second / the alternative zero hypothesis: There is a statistically significant difference at the level (05.0) between the average scores of students of the experimental group who are studying the course of European and American history according to the method of Banskar and Brown and between the average scores of students of the control group who study the same subject in the usual way, in a test Dimensional synthesis.
The researchers relied on a scale of synthetic thinking according to Harrison and Pramson's theory, as expressed by Laden (Habib 1995), which consisted of (36) test items. To analyze the results, the researchers used the following statistical methods: (t-test equation for two independent samples, and a square (Ca2) , Pearson Correlation Coefficient, Discriminant Force Equation, and Spearman and Brown Correction Equation). The researchers reached the following result:
There is a statistically significant difference at the level (05,0) between the average scores of students of the experimental group who are studying history subject according to the Banskar and Brown method and between the average scores of students of the control group who are studying the same subject in the usual way, in the test of structural dimensional thinking, thus accepting the zero hypothesis The first rejects the second (alternative).
