The Dust of 1918 between Novel and History
Abstract
The talk about the interaction between history and creativity, in it's dimensions, is a talk about the novel as an aesthetic and expressive sort that has dealt with history intensively and distinctively. It was revealed by those contemporary narrative writings that tried to read the current Arabic historically in order to readjust the capabilities of understanding the present within the events of the past. Therefore, working on the axis of history became a cognitive obsession for contemporary writers. Hence, this research came to find out the problem of reading history in the novel "The Dust of 1918",written by Doctor Fatin Al Mor. Where we found that the writer was able to get rid of the complexity of pure art, as well as to construct a narrative world based on taking history as a narration. In addition to that, she works on devoting imagination in presenting the historical subject. Thus she has been succeeded in retrieving history and reading past with some distinction and uniqueness. Furthermore, she moved to creative spaces in which the novel made an aesthetic and intellectual shift in which the novel met history.
