Subjective Poetic Experience in Abbasid Literature

(A Study in Abu Tammam's Poetry)

Abstract

This study aims to explore the subjective poetic experience in the poetry of Abu Tammam, one of the prominent poets in Abbasid literature. The study is based on an analysis of a selected group of Abu Tammam's poems to understand how his personal experience, feelings and ideas are embodied in his poetry. The research is presented through an introduction that presents Abbasid literature and its historical and cultural context, and explains the importance of the study in revealing Abu Tammam's uniqueness and distinction in the artistic use of subjective experience in his poetry.

The study includes analytical methods to understand and analyze the subjective poetic experience in Abu Tammam's poems. The text analysis methodology was used to analyze the selected poems and extract the meanings and concepts that the poet expresses through his personal experience. The common themes in Abu Tammam's poems, such as pride, wisdom, and philosophical contemplation, were highlighted, and how they were manifested in his poetic experience.

The results showed that Abu Tammam's subjective poetic experience reflects his unique vision of the world and his personal interaction with it. His poems were characterized by a deep and expressive expression of the self, as feelings, thoughts, and life experiences merged with poetic imagination to create unique poetic texts that reflect the poet's identity. The poetic styles and rhetorical images used by Abu Tammam to embody his personal experience in artistic and creative ways were studied.

The study concluded that the subjective poetic experience in Abu Tammam's poetry represents a unique contribution to Abbasid literature, as the poet added his own touch to the poetic heritage. Abu Tammam was able to embody his personal feelings and thoughts in his poems, and this subjective experience influenced the construction of his poems and their artistic characteristics.
