The Impact of Strategic Vigilance on Supply Chain Integration at Jordanian Pharmaceutical Companies
Abstract
The study aimed to reveal the impact of the strategic vigilance (technological vigilance, competitive vigilance, environmental vigilance, marketing vigilance) on supply chain integration (internal integration, supplier's integration, customer's integration) at Jordanian pharmaceutical companies.
The population of the study consisted of all employees at the upper and middle management levels. The descriptive analytical approach was used to achieve the purpose of the study. The researcher used the questionnaire as a tool to collect data. And it was distributed to all members of study sample. (149) questionnaire where retrieved, the valid questionnaires for statistical analysis was (142).
The result showed that all means where high for the independent variable (strategic vigilance) with its dimensions, and were high for the dependent variable (supply chain integration) with its dimension at Jordanian pharmaceutical companies. The results indicated that there is a statistically significant impact of strategic vigilance on supply chain integration. Moreover, the study found an impact of strategic vigilance on all dimensions of supply chain integration (internal integration, suppliers, integration, customer's integration)
The study recommended the necessity of adopting a culture of strategic vigilance by Jordanian pharmaceutical companies to exploit opportunities and avoid potential threats; through studying market conditions, and monitoring a competitor's movements. Furthermore, recommended increasing communication with suppliers and customers, and necessity of coordination between various activities and operation through cooperation and exchange information between internal units.
