Parametric Design and its Role in Enriching Contemporary Artworks
Abstract
The study addressed The Parametric Design concept, philosophy, features, foundations, elements, and its role showing in contemporary artworks characterized by plastic aesthetics, contemporary designs and techniques that are different from others. The problem of study is summarized in a question: What is the role of parametric design in enriching contemporary artworks?
The study aims to develop the design aspect of the artwork by making use of the parametric design methodology.
The result of study is summarized in taking advantage of the parametric design as a source of inspiration to the artist, achieving successfully aesthetic and functional values. Moreover, it contributes designing unlimited numbers of designs inspired by one element through the Grass-Hopper program and opening new horizons and different perceptions of the uses of different plastic and technological media in the artwork.
The study recommends the importance of making ready-made networks for the parametric design in different shapes that help any artist to apply any artwork and any material to it. Updating the academic curriculum and insert the foundations and elements of parametric design within the College of Designs and Arts system to enrich the field of design in general. The study also recommends the need for artists and designers to approach such new concepts through teaching the Grass-Hopper and Rhino program based on parametric design, as well as expanding the study and analyzing the parametric design methods to get the benefit to design artworks and employing digital technologies as an essential partner in creating results and design processes to raise the intellectual, creative and expressive level of contemporary forms.
