The Problem of the Relationship between International Economic Sanctions and Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of the Citizens of the Targeted Country

Abstract
The research deals with the impact of the international economic sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council resolutions on the economic, social and cultural rights of the citizens of the targeted country. It is evident that the broad discretionary and reporting authority of the aforementioned council in what may be considered a breach or a threat to international peace and security or an act of aggression, its imposition of economic sanctions or military measures and the possibility of combining them, and the predominance of political considerations of the permanent members of the Security Council when deciding upon this have had direct impacts on the violation of those rights.
