Innovating Decorative Designs Inspired by Oriental Carpet Motifs and Lace Art for Women’s Evening Wear

Abstract

1. Rapid technological developments contribute to driving fashion designers toward renewal and innovation in fashion lines, in line with the contemporary tendency to draw inspiration from heritage elements and employ them in modern designs. Oriental carpet motifs are considered a rich source of aesthetic ornamentation and inherited artistic values, while lace art represents an effective means of reintroducing these motifs in innovative ways that meet the requirements of contemporary fashion.

   From this perspective, the research aimed to create decorative designs inspired by Oriental carpet motifs and lace art for women’s evening wear, in addition to identifying the degree of acceptance of the innovative designs among specialists and female consumers. The research followed the descriptive analytical method with practical application, as it was suitable for achieving the research objectives.

   The results led to the creation of nine designs inspired by Oriental carpet motifs and lace art using several programs, including Procreate and Affinity Designer 2, as a visual starting point. In the final stage, the artificial intelligence application Gemini was used as a supporting tool for generating ideas. The third and ninth designs were selected for implementation, as they received the highest level of acceptance from the two research samples. They were implemented virtually using CLO 3D in order to benefit from modern digital technologies in the field of fashion design.

   The research recommends further study of artificial intelligence applications and their employment in developing motifs and ornaments inspired by heritage, as well as benefiting from them in creating sustainable women’s evening wear designs that combine authenticity and modernity.
