The Effectiveness of the SWOM Strategy in Acquiring Mathematical Concepts for Second Grade Students, Teacher Training Institutes

Abstract
The current research aims to identify the effectiveness of the SWOM strategy in gaining mathematical concepts for second-grade students teacher training institutes, and to achieve the research goal the researcher has adopted experimental design with dimensional testing of two groups (experimental group, control group) with partial control, as the research community consists of students The second grade in teacher training institutes Baghdad, and the sample was chosen from the second grade students at the Institute of Teacher Training General Directorate of Education / Second Karkh, and the researcher conducted parity in some variables, namely: the age of students calculated in months, the previous achievement in mathematics, the educational level of the parents In order to achieve the goal of the research, the researcher analyzed the fifth chapter and identified its main concepts, which are (15) major concepts, to measure the acquisition of concepts. The researcher prepared a test to measure the effectiveness of the SOM strategy by building a test of concept acquisition at the level of the three concept acquisition processes (discrimination, classification, And generalization), and after confirming the significance of the validity and reliability of the test and the statistical analysis of its paragraphs, as the prepared test stability factor (0.93), which is a high stability factor, after its completion From teaching the content of the research subject according to the specific time of the experiment and for the two research groups, the Acquisition of Concepts test was applied on 04/21/2012, the result of the research showed: "The experimental group students who studied through (Sum strategy) in (acquisition of concepts) outperformed the control group students Those who studied in the usual way ", in the light of the results and the conclusions reached by the research, a number of recommendations can be produced, including: the necessity of adopting a strategy in teaching, which enables students to use their skills to direct thinking processes, and take personal responsibility in learning, based on the principle of self-learning .
